Dane M. Garland grew up in East Tennessee. Dane attended the University of Tennessee and graduated in 2005 with a B.A. in political science. After working as a runner with a Knoxville, Tennessee, law firm, Dane decided to attend law school. As Dane and his wife lived in Florida, Dane applied to and was accepted at St. Thomas University School of Law in Miami, Florida.
In 2009, after graduation, Dane and his wife moved to Atlanta where she acquired a job at the Winship Cancer Institute at Emory University and Dane obtained an Administrative Hearing Officer position with the Georgia Department of Labor. After three years, Dane left the GA DOL to return to Mercer University School of Law’s LLM program and obtained a Master of Laws in Federal Criminal Practice and Procedure.
After graduating with his LLM in August 2013, Dane began with the Carroll County Public Defender’s Office as an Assistant Public Defender. During such time, Dane represented approximately 125-150 indigent defendants at a time and conducted numerous bond hearings, preliminary hearings, probation revocation hearings, and trials. In September 2014, Dane joined The Swindle Law Group as an associate attorney, and became the managing partner of the firm in 2015.
Dane handles misdemeanor and felony cases ranging from DUIs to murders. He currently practices in Carroll County, Coweta County, Douglas County, Haralson County, Heard County, Meriwether County, Polk County, and Troup County.
